A love story called ‘Lucia’ by Dan.S.Keenan.

Where You Are is a story of undermined love searching for a lasting peace and home within the hearts and lives of a young couple separated by three hundred years of Italian traditions and an ocean of differences. Rick is a young man from the Outer Banks of North Carolina who falls passionately in love with a Tuscan woman of undeniable class and ability attending college in America escaping the ravages of Italian fascism.

Their love takes a life of its own, born from warm Carolina skies, a cool Atlantic shore marked and guided by Bodie Lighthouse. It results in a search for Lucia through the battle-crowded skies over Germany in 1944, to the vine-covered hills of Tuscany and the discovery of a little girl who represents life’s innocence and frailty. It is a novel that will pull at the reader’s heart to want to read on and hope that a love found will be the prize won.

As a kid, Dan Keenan loved fixing things, tearing things apart, and figuring out a way to build something new. But he never dreamed his skills would one day lead to being a key player in designing a brand-new race engine for NASCAR.

After earning a mechanical engineering degree from Montana State University, he started working on dynamometers. His expertise got the attention of NASCAR race teams, and in 2000, he joined the team at Robert Yates Racing, which would later become Roush Yates Engines (RYE). In 2007, Roush Yates Engines’ President and CEO, Doug Yates, asked him to team with Ford Performance to spearhead the design of Ford’s first purpose-built, made-from-scratch NASCAR race engine, the Ford FR9.

Today, Keenan is the design and analysis manager at RYE

Keenan Farms

I came across Keenan Farms whilst researching my family name of Keenan.

In 1972, the Keenan’s purchased 100 acres of newly planted pistachio trees in Avenal, California. Four years later, the trees produced their first crop of just 500 pounds, and with no processing facilities nearby, the Keenans built their own. Fast forward a few decades and while so much has changed, the family values and vision that drove our business from the beginning resonate to this day.

Still in the same location, the Keenan Farms processing plant that opened along with that first harvest has expanded along with the size and scope of the industry. State-of-the-art equipment and facilities have been continuously integrated into the plant, while the original pistachio trees planted many years ago still flourish alongside ever-increasing orchards. We are privileged to be part of a thriving community of growers, producers, and packers in the Central Valley!

How amazing!

Place of birth: Worksop, United Kingdom
Head of Unilever’s Nutrition Patents

“New technologies will be required to secure a sustainable future by transforming the global food chain. In order for partners to work together confidently to provide new innovations, intellectual property is essential.

Before beginning work as an ice cream scientist at Unilever in 1996, Danny Keenan was originally trained as a chemist and earned a DPhil in food biopolymers. In 2003, Danny changed occupations to become a patent attorney after realising the importance of intellectual property to the creative sector through the protection of ideas he developed while creating new ice cream technologies.

He currently serves as the head of the international patent group that safeguards Unilever’s advancements in nutrition. The group wants to fulfil the Future Foods Commitments that serve as the foundation for the business’s nutrition division and its nutrition business, and it is his ambition to help shape a fair global food system. Danny Keenan is also president of the UK IP Federation.

“I discovered my love of sailing off the coast of Maine as a student with Outward Bound before joining the professional crew aboard the sail training tallship “Roald Amundsen” in Germany. Following my time in the Baltic and North Seas, I worked for a time delivering yachts both along the Eastern seaboard and Transatlantic. I then lived for a few years in Maui, HI giving tours aboard whale watch and snorkeling vessels so don’t be surprised to get a call from an 808 phone number! After working aboard schooners in Bermuda and the Bahamas, I eventually arrived in Boston, MA where I jumped ship and established myself in the Boston marine community. I have extensive sailing and powerboat knowledge and experience and am dedicated to finding the right, quality boats for my buyers. As we all know there are thousands of boats for thousands of boaters– it’s all about finding the right one!”
