Dan Keenan

Dan Keenan addresses a variety of concerns including LGBTQ+ issues, transgender and gender identity matters, the intersection of masculinity and emotions, challenges in intimate relationships, family dynamics, life transitions, as well as anxiety and depression.

One of Dan’s greatest joys in their role is guiding students in the exploration of their identities and values. Utilising a client-centered, strengths-based approach, Dan empowers students to recognise their innate abilities while equipping them with new strategies for personal growth. As a queer, non-binary clinician, Dan’s lived experiences, combined with their specialised training, fuel their commitment to providing affirmative care for LGBTQ+ individuals.

They are thrilled to be back in a higher education environment, viewing this formative period as both challenging and brimming with potential. Dan finds fulfillment in witnessing the diverse spectrum of human experiences and celebrating the growth and resilience of those they work with. Their therapeutic practice incorporates mindfulness techniques, somatic therapy, DBT skills, motivational interviewing, and polyvagal theory.

Personal Interests:
When not working, Dan loves to hike, kayak, and discover the stunning landscapes around Ithaca alongside family and friends. They enjoy photography, writing poetry, cultivating vegetables and flowers, and engaging in DIY projects during their leisure time.
